Batik with Kim!
Batik workshops are back!
It is my dreamy delight to be offering Batik workshops again!
Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing. Batik is made either by drawing dots, lines, or patterns of wax with a spouted tool, or by printing the wax with a metal/copper stamp. The applied wax resists dyes and allows the artisan to selectively color the fabric. The artist removes the wax with boiling water or a hot iron to reveal beautiful designs.
Each participant in this workshop will create one silk scarf piece in which the final product can be worn or displayed. The class includes all materials and instruction. Additional fabric pieces will be available for purchase if students would like to create more than one item. These additional pieces will cost between $5 - $20 each.
